Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Welcome to Skai Market. These terms are the agreement between you and Skai Market ("Skai", "we") when you use myskaimarket.app. Plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, ask us at skai.admin8@gmail.com before using the platform. By creating an account you accept these terms.
1. What Skai is
Skai is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting buyers and sellers in Tanzania. We are not a party to the sale itself: the seller sells, the buyer buys, and Skai's job is to hold the payment safely until the deal is done. We are also not a carrier — drivers who handle deliveries are independent people arranged by the buyer or seller, not Skai employees or agents.
2. Accounts
- One person, one account. Provide accurate details and keep your password safe.
- You must be at least 18 to use Skai.
- Everyone starts as a buyer; becoming a seller may require NIDA/TIN verification, which we review manually.
- One role per account: a seller account cannot double as a driver account, and vice versa.
- We may suspend or ban accounts that break these terms, attempt fraud, or harm other users. Banned accounts lose access to buying, selling, and driving.
3. Escrow — how money moves
- When a buyer pays, the money is held by Skai in escrow. It is NOT the seller's money yet.
- The seller ships. When the buyer confirms they received the item, Skai releases the money to the seller.
- If the buyer does nothing, money auto-releases to the seller 14 days after delivery is confirmed or handover, so sellers aren't kept waiting forever.
- Skai charges sellers a service fee per completed sale (1–3%, shown before you pay). The buyer sees the total price up front.
- Refunds happen only through Skai's refund process — never by a buyer and seller agreeing to go around escrow, which voids Skai's protections.
- Delivery fares are NOT part of escrow. Delivery money is arranged directly between buyer or seller and the driver — in cash or direct mobile money. Skai never holds or takes a cut of delivery fares.
4. Disputes
- A buyer can raise a dispute before confirming delivery, stating a reason and adding evidence (description, and up to 5 photos).
- The seller gets exactly one right of reply to respond to the dispute.
- Skai reviews the evidence and decides: release the money to the seller, refund the buyer, or a split. Our decision on a dispute is final.
- Don't abuse disputes. Filing false claims to get free items is fraud, and we ban for it.
- Raise disputes in good time — the 14-day auto-release exists so that silence counts as acceptance.
5. Deliveries and drivers
- Buyer and seller arrange the fare directly with the driver. Skai is not involved in that payment and takes no commission from any driver.
- Live tracking shares the driver's location with the people watching that delivery only while the session is active.
- Registered drivers claim jobs through the app. A claimed job means the driver committed to complete it; repeatedly abandoning claimed jobs can get a driver's account suspended.
- Drivers are independent couriers. Skai does not set their fares, control their hours, or provide vehicles.
6. What you may not sell
Anything illegal in Tanzania, and anything that puts users at risk, including: weapons, drugs and narcotics, counterfeit goods, stolen items, live animals traded illegally, gambling, sexual services, and any item requiring a licence you don't hold. We may remove listings and suspend accounts for violations. Sellers are responsible for what they list and ship.
7. Your responsibilities
- Describe items honestly — photos and specs must match what you ship.
- Ship within a reasonable time and communicate delays.
- Buyers: confirm delivery promptly when the item is right; dispute honestly when it isn't.
- Don't try to move deals off-platform to dodge fees — you lose escrow protection and disputes, and we suspend for it.
- Don't harass other users, spam listings, or manipulate ratings and reviews.
8. Fees and changes
Seller fees are shown at checkout before payment. We may change fees or these terms; if the change is significant, we'll announce it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Skai after a change means you accept it.
9. When things go wrong — our liability
We work hard to keep escrow safe, but we can't promise the platform will always be perfect or always available. To the extent the law allows: Skai is not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of items sold; for deliveries arranged directly with drivers; or for indirect losses (like lost profit) resulting from a deal between users. Our total liability to you for anything related to the platform is limited to the fees Skai earned on the transaction in question.
10. Closing an account
You can stop using Skai and request account deletion any time at skai.admin8@gmail.com. We keep financial records where the law requires. Sections that should survive deletion — disputes already opened, escrow still in progress, and liability — survive.
11. The law
These terms follow the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. We'll always try to solve problems by talking first — reach us before escalating anywhere.
